How to use iHo.me

iHo.me is a tool to shorten long unreadable URLs and make them readable and easy to remember. Just enter the URL you copy from your browser? input to the text field. Then click on the button and you get a short alias for your long URL. And if you like a 2-12 letter abbreviation, just enter it in the text field Tiny text. If still available, you get an URL in the form http://iho.me/yourabbrev.

Where for? Well, just think of a long URL with many ? and & signs. You want to send an unreadable URL via eMail? I started this service, because I wrote a (german) book on iPhone development. The link to the publishers homepage is http://www.informit.de/main/main.asp?page=deutsch/bookdetails&ProductID=175376, which is neither readable nor easy to remember. And if you send it via mail, the URL is often wrapped and the link won? work any more. So I pasted the long URL in the URL-field and filled book in the Tiny text field. And now I can send my iho.me/book link to friends and partners. Or I can refer to it at facebook and so on ...

And last but not least I am writing an iPhone app to use this service ;-) Just come back to see when it? ready in the app store. Tiny URL at the App Store
